National Cheer Keanu Up Day

Whether you’re celebrating on June 15th or July 1st, National Cheer Keanu Up Day is approaching.  Let us all be excellent to this man, if even for only 24 hours. Not into it?  Well did you know that Keanu:

• Is Hawaiian for “The Coldness” or “Cool Breeze Over The Mountains?”
• Had a bunch of different stepfathers because his mom was a stripper?
• Dropped out of high school to become an actor?
• Has never been married?  In 1999 his girlfriend Jennifer Syme gave birth to a stillborn baby.  Jennifer was unable to cope with the loss, broke up with Keanu, and committed suicide by automobile.
• Was extremely close with River Phoenix, who died of a drug overdose?
• Is best friends with his sister who is dying of leukemia?  Keanu spends fortunes on cancer research to try and keep her alive.
• Has, in the past, taken pay cuts so that other actors could be cast in a film?
• Gave away $50 million of the money he earned from The Matrix to special effects and costume teams who worked behind the scenes on the movies?

So let’s all give Keanu a break this Tuesday.
